The primary duty of the Assistant Secretary is to assist The Secretary, if needed, in running the meetings in the order set by the rules of the HOA and record the minutes of each meeting and to perform these tasks if the Secretary is unavailable.
The Assistant Secretary should discuss the office with the incoming Assistant Secretary and share any open And unfinished business.

From the Pilot Mountain HOA By-laws dated 6.13.89....
"In the absence of the secretary or in the event of his death, inability or refusal to act, the assistant secretaries in the order of their length of service as assistant secretary, unless otherwise determined by the Board of Directors, shall perform the duties of the secretary, and when so acting shall have all the powers of and be subject to all the restrictions upon the secretary. They shall perform other duties as may be assigned to them by the secretary, by the president, or by the Board of Directors."
